History
1880
Founding of the Company by Alfred ROSIER.



Alfred ROSIER establishes a lime superphosphate manufacturing workshop in Moustier, using the method of sulphuric acid reaction on phosphate. The original objective of the superphosphate production was to fulfil the needs of local farmers.
However, operations quickly developed to address the growing demand from Belgium, bordering countries and eventually overseas.
1926
Incorporation of the "SUPERPHOSPHATE ROSIER" Société Anonyme (public limited company)



The Company manufactures and markets sulphuric acid, superphosphate and compound fertilisers in powder form.
1945
Building of a new superphosphate workshop for continuous manufacturing. This workshop is one of the most advanced of the time, due to usage of the rotating drum technique.
1961
Opening of a complex granulated PK and NPK fertiliser granulation workshop.
This workshop has been extensively modernised on a number of occasions and remains at the core of ROSIER's current compound fertilisers.


1963
Change of corporate name
"S.A.SUPERPHOSPHATE ROSIER" becomes"S.A. ENGRAIS ROSIER".


1974
Majority stake of the Company acquired by CdF CHIMIE (Charbonnages de France). Following successive mergers resulting from the reorganisation of the French chemical industry, the majority shareholding is currently held by the chemical division of the TOTAL Group (www.total.com).
1979
Building of the first unit for the manufacture of liquid fertilisers in suspension (ROSAL®).

1980
The Company celebrates its 100th anniversary.



1986

Initial public offering of the Company shares on the Brussels Stock Exchange, on the cash market- double fixing (www.euronext.com).
The Company's share capital is held by:
* The TOTAL Group (by ATOFINA) : 57 %
* The general public (Brussels Euronext) : 43 %
1992
ROSALCO, a Company subsidiary trading farming supplies is offered to SCAM (Société Coopérative Agricole de la Meuse) in exchange of 32 % of the share capital of this co-operative company. This stake was sold in 2004.
1995
Majority stake acquired in the CEDENA company located at Beaumetz-Lez-Loges (near Arras- France). This Company specialises in foliar fertiliser distribution on the French market.
1996
Beginning of the industrial chemical product processing business and establishment of a boron trifluoride (BF3) production and packaging facility.
1998
Acquisition of a 30% stake in the NORTHERN SHIPPING BULK BLENDING Company. Located at Antwerpharbour, this Company boasts some of the most advanced equipment in Europe for the mixing of granulated fertilisers.
2000
Opening of a new production and packaging facility for water-soluble NPK fertilisers in powder form. This state of the art equipment guarantees top quality products.
2001




The ENGRAIS ROSIER Company changes its corporate name to ROSIER SA.
* Granting of the ISO 9001: 2000 certification for all lines of business. This certification recognises the quality of management and operating procedures and is the direct result of the implementation, as early as 1999, of our Quality Management System.
* In application of the European Directive SEVESO, the Moustier site has been classified as "SEVESO II - high level".
2003



- Granting of the OHSAS:18001: 1999 certification. This certification is a result of the implementation of our Quality Management System (QMS).
- Building of a new ammonia storage facility complying with the strictest safety standards.
2004

- Building of new ammonia in hot solution storage facility.
- Reorganisation of the TOTAL Group chemical division. ARKEMA (formerly ATOFINA) transfers its stake in ROSIER SA to ELF AQUITAINE. This is an intra-Group transaction that does not affect the Company's control structure.

2005
- Opening of a new access road to the factory and of a visitor reception building. This measure aims at making our operations more socially responsible and at improving relationships with our neighbours.
- The Company celebrates its 125th anniversary.
2006
ZUID-CHEMIE BV acquisition (100% of shares) ![]()
Zuid-Chemie benefits from an excellent location alongside the ship canal Gent-Terneuzen. Moreover it has its own loading quay wich offers new and interesting logistical possibilities. Zuid-Chemie has its own granulation plant consisting of 2 different production units.
